About Katherine

Katherine is a Southern live out loud kinda girl transplanted to New York. She survived 9/11 and decided to stay, but eventually left her soulless job at Goldman Sachs.

You might recognize her, she’s a veteran of all the writing workshops. The Shipman Agency is her fave place to dip in when she needs a hit of inspo. Before that, she studied Literature and Political Science, and a fair amount of Medicine.

Her inspirations include S.A. Cosby, Jess Walter and Toni, Patrick Radden Keefe, Liz Moore and Percival Everett, not to mention Brandon Taylor, Yaa Gyasi, Garth, Fatima Bhutto, Rebecca Makkai and Douglas Stewart and Liz Salander (the GWTDT). BAE status for her brother, DFW, Donna Tartt, Agatha C, Walker Percy and Michael Crichton ‘cause she’s read everything they’ve published.

The Long Island Sound is her backyard, where she lazes about with her family and shepherds and cats. She travels as much as she can, and currently fantasizes she lives in Geneva, Switzerland. Most days, she listens to all the music, and she might be at the gym, or cooking for friends, even answering all her fan mail and reading.

She collects French perfume and faded photographs, and finds a moving beauty in the emptiness of Ross Penhall’s paintings. She loves detours, red vines and Tuscan sunsets, the scent of roses at dawn, stem winding discussions about space and time, and Roger Federer. She has a soft spot—more like a soul deep bruise—for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). Check them out.

She’s currently querying, A Noble Heart, a political love story and her take on Hamlet, about love and war, fathers and PTSD, set amidst the lopsided nexus between conflict zone medical volunteerism and for profit
